Explorer Scouts donate £300

explorer scouts present chequeSouth Mearns Explorers have donated £300 to Laurencekirk Scout Group to help fund safety cages for the lights in the Scout Hut.

Group Chairperson Avril Nicoll said, "At the moment, we are focusing our fundraising efforts on the fund for a new roof but we have also had a number of expenses which were necessary to keep the hall comfortable and safe. We have purchased heaters and a toilet to replace ones that were broken, and a large mat for the hallway to prevent dirt being dragged into the hall."

She continued, "Just this week we have fitted cages to the strip lights in the hall as a safety measure. We are very grateful to the Explorers for covering most of the cost of these, as it saves us dipping into our roof fund."

Explorer Scouts cater for young people aged between 14 and 18 years. The South Mearns Unit meets on a Wednesday evening in Laurencekirk Scout Hut from 8-10pm.
