Laurencekirk Scout Group has the chance of going ahead with phase 3 of its hut refurbishment in 2013, thanks to several early Christmas presents.
First was a cheque for £500 from the Scottish Accordion Music Group. Local man Bill Somerville recommended the Scouts to the accordionists who are based in Durris and make a significant contribution every year to worthy causes in Kincardine and Deeside.
Next was a bag pack at Scotmid, Laurencekirk, coordinated by Cub parent Nicki Sinclair. This raised £341 in just 4 hours and involved around a third of our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
Finally a cheque for £200 arrived from BP Clair Charity Committee courtesy of Max Smith's dad and his colleagues.
Scout Group chairperson Avril Nicoll said, "We are tremendously grateful for all the goodwill and generosity of local people and organisations who give us their time, facilities and money. The refurbishment will benefit future generations as the hut is increasingly seen as a centre for purposeful activities for young people. With these recent donations, we hope we will soon be able to press ahead with the electrics, heating and insulation phase."
